Scrapbooking and the Adventure of Travel

If your camera is 5 years old, then it might not be able to use any cards bigger than the 2 GB ones. That’s the case with my 5 year old Nikon D50. I was bummed when I found out that the 4 GB cards I had gotten a great deal on weren’t readable by the camera 🙁 The bigger cards memory is subdivided into smaller pieces- the 4 GB card has 2 folders of 2 GB each- and my camera just didn’t know what to do with that. DD got the 4 GB cards to use with her new P&S camera at Christmas last year. So, anyway, that was a long-winded way of saying don’t rush out to buy bigger memory cards before you check to see if your camera can actually use them 😉

We don’t have any big vacation plans this year- too many things going on that are preventing any major length of time away. Hopefully there will be some fun day trips and a weekend getaway though. My cousin is coming to town for the day tomorrow and we haven’t seen her and her girls for a few years, so we are looking forward to spending the day with them 🙂

Ooo yes, good point, always check for compatibility before purchasing anything when dealing with old technology. Ran into that when we bought a wireless print server that won’t work with one of our old, cheap printers, LOL.

Luckily the Canon Rebel XT can read cards up to at least 8GB so I would be good to go if I chose to go that route, but let’s face it, I’m cheap, so I’m not about to replace cards that are working just fine for me, haha. Thanks for the heads up though!

Hope you have a fun day with your cousin and thanks so much for stopping by!

It was a good visit with my cousin today- too short, but still good.
The smaller SD card sizes are getting harder to find now, and when you do find them they cost about as much as the bigger ones wish I had bought more of them back when they were cheap!

Oh yeah, that is a tricky situation. Have you looked into seeing if there’s a way to format the bigger cards (maybe using the computer?) to use in your camera? I don’t know if that’s an option with your specific camera but it might be worth looking into!

Honestly we don’t have anything planned for the summer other than enjoying it.
As for packing when traveling, I’m always an over-packer. I like to be prepared.

Enjoying summer is always good! And yes being prepared is my motto too although sometimes I think I’m over-prepared for some things and under-prepared for others, haha.

EEE! I love this! I just bought 2 albums during The Album Cafe’s semi-annual sale, and I’m hoping it’ll force me to get our honeymoon scrapped. We’re going on another major trip this fall (last one before we start trying to start a family) and I NEED to get that done first! Lol!
I bought a small leather travel journal on Etsy for the honeymoon, and we wrote in it every night (or on the next train ride). It was one of my favorite things ever, and even Jordan got into it. I’m excited to do the same for this next trip, and I’m going to give my family one to fill in too (they’re meeting us halfway through and then we’re all doing Ireland together for 9 days). My mom will love it 🙂
I thought that my tiny travel suitcase and packing for 7 days in it for the honeymoon would have cured my over-packing problems, but it didn’t. LOL! I’m TOTALLY an over-packer, yet I also always manage to forget something too. So strange. 😛

Yay! So glad to see you’re excited about travel scrapping too! I thought maybe it was just me, LOL!

Which Album Cafe albums did you get? I bought the Classic one forever ago to do an album of our wedding but I never got around to it. I’d kind of forgotten all about that until you mentioned it, haha.

That is so cool about the travel journal on your honeymoon! I’ve tried to do it in the past but this was my first time keeping up with it through the whole trip. It’s really amazing all the things you forget after just a few days when you’re doing so much in a short period of time! Next trip I think I’d really like to try to do a scrapbook on the road album a la Ali Edwards. I kind of love the idea of coming home and only have to add some photos to have a completed album.

And yes, I totally know what you mean about over-packing but still forgetting something. Always seems like the one item I leave behind is the one item I end up really really needing. Funny how that works!
