Five Personal Goals for the Big Two Nine

  1. Kellie says:

I have a list of 28 things to accomplish before I turn 35 next year; I tried to think of 35 things but I just couldn’t do it, lol. I’ve always imagined how I would be *someday*, so I decided July 5, 2012 ( the day I turn 35) was a good target for being. I was off to a good start, but I’ve sort of slipped back into some bad habits.

I love your list, especially about making your house a home. That’s one of my goals too!

    • Lynnette says:

lol, Yeah that’s partly why I didn’t really want to do another 29 at 29 list or 30 before 30 list. I wasn’t sure I really had another big number of items I wanted to do. So I’m just going to go with some normal goals for now. Adam and I are talking about doing a couple 30 before 30 list though since he turns 30 ten months after I do so we’d have almost two years to complete it. I think it’d be fun but we’ll see what happens!

Habits are so tricky to break but I’m sure you’re doing better than you probably think you are!

What a great post. Very inspirational. I’d like to know more about the “Project Life” album that you mentioned.
I think that New Years resolutions are kinda bogus. I think that a lot of people feel sort of pressured into making them, which makes it too hokey.

    • Lynnette says:

Project Life is a Becky Higgins’ creation that uses divided page protectors as a way to document everyday life/P365. You can read more about it here. Ali Edwards has a great example of it here too. There used to be kits you could purchase to put together your album but I’m planning to just use the page protectors and do my own. We’ll see where I end up…

And agreed, New Years Resolutions = Hokey. Nothing worse than making a goal just because you feel you should. That’s a recipe for failure before you even start.

  3. Sara says:

Love this post! It’s full of intention…which I love love love! I’ve been trying very hard to focus on proactivity and intention this year and this post helps me to re-focus on that!!

Good luck with Operation Home Sweet Home..I know it can be a bit hard to make a house a “home” when essentially you’re a nomad. Or at least that’s how I feel most of the time. So I’m totally projecting, LOL! So I will be watching this one for sure! Really can’t wait to see what you come up with!!

    • Lynnette says:

Yes, intention is a good way to describe it! Although is it weird that the theme of intention was in fact UNintentional? LOL! I think it’s the aftermath of a year-long deployment and being only a year away from turning thirty. It’s made me think a lot of about what is most important to me and where I’d like to go from here, which is a good thing I think!

As I was writing this post, the word “nomad” popped into my head several times – that’s definitely how I’d describe the military life too. My problem is I tend to put things off and before I know it, it’s time to move again. Trying to get better about being more proactive for sure!

  4. Aggie says:

I am wanting to get Project Life already but the OC in me cannot begin at the middle of the year – that and the fact the kit is sold out. I want to try it by piece (which I will mostly likely do once the new kits come out) but I dont want to spend now then regret it when the new ones come out. I have such a HUGE problem have I? Hahaha.

    HBD Lynnette!

    • Lynnette says:

I had the same thought about starting Project Life mid-year but I started my P365 in 2009 in June and I liked that a LOT better than starting in January (no holiday burnout!) so I’m thinking Project Life will be the same for me.

On Becky Higgins’ blog I think she said the individual kit pieces would be available this summer so I figure even if I start now and then want to use whatever she puts out, it won’t be a huge issue. I just know if I wait for the perfect time/product/etc I’ll never start. Proactivity is the new name of the game around here! Haha.
